ABHYUDAYA, the national annual management fest of IFMR, means the Rising Sun or the Beginning in Sanskrit - a concept that gels perfectly with IFMR’s philosophy of continuous learning and improvement. The rising sun symbolic of the victory of light over darkness, or more commonly knowledge over ignorance, mirrors our belief in striving to hone our skills to levels par excellence. A brand in its own right, Abhyudaya imbibes the values of the rising sun to spread its recognition and equity year after year.
Abhyudaya has been known for its current theme in each of its edition which is well supported by the customized events to bring the best out of the budding managers. Abhyudaya also is a platform for the students of IFMR to prove their mettle by creating new and mind boggling events every year to keep the B-Schoolers from all over the country on their toes to be coveted with the prizes and of course the moolah.
Abhyudaya started its journey in the year of 2006, its first edition themed “Rural Rethinc” was hosted at IFMR. The focus was the rural facet of India as the period 2005-06 was a time when rural initiatives were on a high. The event brought out various innovative ideas and solutions for the rural issues in the country and was appreciated by all who were a part of the first edition of this extravaganza.
Following the deep rooted theme of 2006, Abhyudaya moved forward to capture the essence of 2007. With India making its presence felt globally, “See the big picture” was set to be theme of the second edition. The events framed thereon were aptly engineered to meet the theme’s spirit. Participation increased manifold and Abhyudaya already had become a known name among students all over the country.
Abhyudaya 2008 saluted the arrival of India Inc in the world’s stage! Moving ahead with full energy and spreading its presence across borders, M&As soon became a way of living. Abhyudaya, as always, grabbed the opportunity to highlight this spirit and through it’s uniquely designed events made the participants and the corporate go ga-ga over the innovative events. “BODMAS” – theme of ’08 - not only dealt with numbers, but also gave a new meaning to the acronym. BODMAS was re-framed as Business of Demergers, Mergers, Acquisitions and Spinoffs. IFMR set itself on an all new level among all others through this management fest.
We at IFMR have been continually learning on this journey called Abhyudaya. Those participating too have gained a lot from their experiences with us. Now its time for Abhyudaya to shine yet again – and this time, much brighter!
